Different Types of CRMs

Updated guide: What Is a Forex CRM? The Complete Guide for Brokers →

A CRM shapes how a brokerage deals with clients, how its back office runs and how fast it can grow. But forex brokers shouldn't assume every CRM is built for them. The options differ a lot, and it pays to understand them before signing anything.

Types of CRMs

The type most forex brokers start with is the cloud-based CRM. Its appeal is practical: you can reach it from anywhere, it grows with you, and it costs less up front. Staff can open their data and tools from any device with an internet connection, which matters when sales and support teams work across offices or from home.
A cloud CRM can take on more users and more data as the business changes, so it works for a new startup and for an established firm alike. The subscription model also means you don't have to buy servers and software licences before you've taken your first deposit.
The second common option is the integrated CRM. It's built to connect with the other systems a broker already runs, such as the trading platforms, analytics software and marketing automation tools. Brokers choose it because it pulls data into one place, cuts out manual handoffs between systems and makes day-to-day operations run more smoothly.

Benefits of CRMs

Once the CRM is linked to those systems, departments can work from the same records and talk to each other more easily. Sales, support and compliance see the same client, and the client gets a consistent, personal experience instead of being passed between disconnected teams.
Some brokers go a step further and choose an industry-specific CRM, built for the demands of financial services. These are designed around the particular needs and regulations of forex brokerage firms, with features that reflect how the industry actually works.
An industry-specific CRM might include built-in compliance tools, regulatory reporting and analytics written specifically for forex trading. Choosing a CRM that matches those requirements means the broker has the tools it needs from day one, in a market where competition for every trader is fierce.

Choosing between them

So there are several kinds of CRM on offer to forex brokers, and each has its own strengths and weaknesses. Which one you pick (cloud-based, integrated or industry-specific) comes down to what you need, what you can spend and where you want the business to be in a few years.
Whichever type you choose, don't go without a solid CRM. It's the system that keeps your processes in order, keeps client relationships on track and gives you room to grow in a crowded market.

His work covers MT4, MT5 and cTrader integrations, broker back-office infrastructure, and the prop trading technology that many firms now see as their next line of revenue.

Most of the broker problems he deals with turn out to be system problems: leads lost because the CRM isn't wired closely enough to the trading platform, back offices running on manual workarounds, compliance issues found after the damage is done.
